Methodology
How we collect, verify, and present election information.
Poll Aggregation
Which Polls We Include
We include polls from major polling organizations with established track records:
- Major national news organizations (CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News)
- University-based polling centers
- Nonpartisan research organizations (Pew, Marist, Quinnipiac)
- Reputable state and regional pollsters
Which Polls We Exclude
We exclude:
- Partisan polls (conducted by campaigns or party organizations)
- Polls with unclear or biased methodology
- Opt-in online polls without proper weighting
- Polls older than 30 days before the election
How We Calculate Averages
Our polling averages are calculated using a recency-weighted average:
- More recent polls receive higher weight
- Polls from the last 7 days are weighted 100%
- Polls 8-14 days old are weighted 75%
- Polls 15-30 days old are weighted 50%
- We include a minimum of 3 polls per race when available
Ballot Measure Text
Official Sources
We source ballot measure text from official state election websites and Secretary of State offices. When official text is not yet available, we note that clearly.
AI Translation
Our AI system reads the official ballot language and generates:
- A plain-English summary of what the measure does
- Clear explanations of what a Yes vote means
- Clear explanations of what a No vote means
- Key impacts and changes the measure would make
All AI-generated explanations are reviewed by human editors for accuracy and neutrality.
Candidate Information
We collect candidate information from:
- Official campaign websites
- Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings
- State Secretary of State candidate statements
- Nonpartisan voter guides (League of Women Voters, Ballotpedia)
We do not summarize or interpret candidate positions. We link to primary sources so voters can read candidate positions in their own words.
Data Updates
- Polling data: Updated daily when new polls are published
- Ballot measures: Updated when official text is published or amended
- Candidate information: Verified monthly and after major campaign announcements
- Registration deadlines: Verified quarterly and cross-checked 30 days before deadlines
